Open Exhibition: The Four Seasons

Southampton City Art Gallery is pleased to announce that the popular biennial open submission exhibition will be returning once again in 2018.

Residents of Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Wiltshire and Dorset are invited to submit their artwork inspired by the theme of ‘the seasons.’

Many artists have been inspired by the changing nature of the seasons: from beautiful Autumnal colours to re-birth and growth in Spring; from Winter frost and snow to Summer flowers and shimmering heat. The turning of the seasons has served as a means for artists to explore deeper issues around the cycle of life, the rhythms of nature and the relentless march of time.

The theme can be reflected in everyday life, whether urban or rural, or in the region’s landscapes, shorelines, rivers or forests.

The judges will consider both 2-D and 3-D work in any medium, as well as video, and invite entrants to consider the theme as creatively as possible. Entrants can submit a maximum of four submissions each.
