Twenty Years by Bennett and McDermott – Southampton City Art Gallery

Twenty Years is an interactive installation that is touring UK arts venues. The display is shaped by the participants and, in each venue, visitors are invited to contribute to an archive of thoughts and ideas about the way we might be living in the future.

Twenty Years was first presented at Aspex Gallery, Portsmouth as part of Portsmouth Festivities 2019. This tour is made possible thanks to public funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.

Sharon Bennett and Dan McDermott are artists and arts educators with over 30 years collective experience. The focus of their collaborative practice is to produce contemporary art that is accessible, engaging, and promotes the values of generosity, community and creativity.

Imagine the Future: Family Art Workshops

To accompany the exhibition we will be hosting a series of family art workshops where both artists will be on hand with their homemade ‘time machine’ that randomly selects future dates and subject categories, and you’ll be invited to visualise your thoughts, dreams and predictions as drawings, collages or writing.
