Copyright and takedown policy

Copyright notice:
Southampton City Art Gallery is committed to obtaining consent from copyright holders for the content it publishes online.  In some instances, despite carrying out due diligence in trying to trace rights holders, their identity or location can still remain unknown. Where this has been the result, Southampton City Art Gallery have made the decision to illustrate these works in the hope that this will lead to the discovery of the copyright holder.  If you are the copyright holder or have their contact details for any of the following artists, then please email museums@southampton.gov.uk:

Charles Ginner (1878-1952)
Ian Hamilton Finlay (1925 – 2006)
Grace Pailthorpe (1883 – 1971)
William Ratcliffe (1870-1955)
Sir John Selby-Bigge (1892-1973)

Takedown policy:
Southampton City Art Gallery undertakes to remove images if requested to do so by copyright holders.

If you hold rights in an image shown on the website and do not agree with its reproduction, you can request the image’s removal by writing to mailto:museums@southampton.gov.uk and stating the following information in your message:

• Your name, email address and phone number
• The nature of the complaint
• A statement that you are the copyright holder or are authorised to act on behalf of the rights

holder.  (You may be asked to provide proof of this ownership that would stand up in a court of law).
We will endeavour to respond to your initial message within five working days and process any approved takedown requests as soon as possible.
