Display of Sculptures from the Collection
During the third and final phase of the ongoing planned refurbishment of the roof, the Gallery won’t be open as usual. However, we are pleased to be able to display a selection of sculptures from the city’s collection in the newly refurbished wing of the Gallery. This display focuses on representations of the human figure and artists’ responses to, and use of, the land. It features works by artists including Auguste Rodin, Edgar Degas, Barry Flanagan, Tony Cragg and Kate Robinson.
How you can visit
The display is open to visitors via timed slots every Saturday from April onwards and can be booked below.
Please note that Visitors will be met in the gallery foyer at the allocated time. Due to the building work, we will access the gallery using an alternative entrance.

Our exciting program of learning activities for all ages will continue as usual. A range of tours and talks, including those from the University of Southampton’s Philosophy Department, will also be on offer.
Humans experience the world in many different ways. How should we think about these different experiences? What commonalities are there, and how might they matter? In these engaging talks, held in the Gallery’s iconic Baring Room, researchers from the philosophy department at Southampton University will explain and explore some key issues about our experience of the world.
