There is no water in this image. This empty ship was riding high in Southampton docks, waiting to be loaded, with the water at least twenty feet below. The vessel had obviously made many voyages and scraped along hundreds of foreign quaysides as all the rubbing marks attest. As soon as her scrap steel cargo is in the hold she will set sail again, never allowed to be idle.
