Travelling the Seas to Escape Poverty and Persecution
Etching on zinc, 15cm x 15cm
Inspired by my sadness at the way migrants are regarded by the majority of people. I feel for their depth of despair which drives them to pay traffickers to take them and their families on small craft across the Seas, in the hope of improving their lives and escaping poverty and persecution. I imagined the Pilgrim Fathers travelling by inflatable boats. In contrast they are held in great esteem by many in the country they travelled to.
