At Days End
Monotype (Oiled based ink on printmaking paper)
‘At Days End’ is one of a series of large-scale monotypes exploring the artist’s response to living in close proximity to the sea. The interweaving dreamlike quality it instils in those that inhabit the ‘edges’ where sea and land meet. With feet on solid monolithic ground we watch the rhythmic pulse of the ocean in slumber or rage and wish we were gulls.
The piece is 75cm x 115cm approx and is a monotype print made with oil-based ink on Fabriano printmaking paper. The image is made in reverse on a flat substrate (plate) and then passed through a press to create a unique, one off image.
