The Sea
For centuries the sea has been a source of fascination and inspiration for artists.
As in the case of the Mayflower, the sea has aided travel, exploration and migration. It has also been a place of work, for trade, a battleground and a home. As well as being a source of pleasure and place to spend leisure time it can also be treacherous and unforgiving.
Many of the artists entering this competition have strong connections to the south coast and have used this as an opportunity to share personal stories, memories and experiences.
