Young Peoples Open Exhibition 2022 – Southampton City Art Gallery

Young People’s Open Exhibition 2022: What does Culture mean to you?

22 October – 23 December

Schools in Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Wiltshire and Dorset are invited to submit artwork by young people aged seven to seventeen for the City Art Gallery’s Young People’s Open Exhibition.

We want to explore and celebrate what culture means to young people across the region in all its vibrant and diverse forms. We are inviting young people to respond to the question ‘What does culture mean to you?’

Everyone’s culture is unique to them, and it can mean many different things to different people. It might be playing or watching sport, singing, music or dance. It might involve books, paintings, theatre or television. It might be different histories, religion or spirituality, or the food we love or our sense of fashion and what we wear. It can be about the special or our everyday lives. There is no right or wrong way to enjoy culture and we welcome submissions which explore the theme in its broadest sense.

Entrants are encouraged to consider the theme as creatively and widely as possible.  Participating young artists will have their work exhibited at Southampton City Art Gallery from 22 October – 23 December.
