Antony Gormley’s Untitled (Diver), 1983, is back in pride of place at Southampton City Art Gallery
18 May 2018
After being on tour since April 2015 the Untitled (Diver), 1983, lead and fibre glass resin sculpture has been caringly reinstalled by the exhibitions team at Southampton City Art Gallery. It can now be seen in the Gallery’s main hall from today.
1994 Turner Prize winner Antony Gormley, best known for his sculpture, The Angel of the North, uses his own body as a living mould to produce life-size hollow figures or archetypes in this sculpture – Untitled (Diver), 1983.
Gormley’s work explores what it feels like to be in a body, its relationship to the world and the notion of the body as an outer expression of the inner self.
