Students from the University of Southampton to stage 2022 portraiture exhibition

From next week Southampton City Art Gallery will be hosting a group of undergraduate history students from the University of Southampton on a course entitled British Portraiture: Curating the Self, 1600-Present. The students will study the last 300 years of portraiture through the works in the city’s collection. The works they look at will form an exhibition on a theme of their choosing opening on 22 January 2022 . Assistant Curator Tom Laver caught up with Senior Lecturer in History and course convenor Dr Jon Conlin over the summer to discuss the collection and gallery.
