Climate Unity – Southampton City Art Gallery

Climate Unity.

Hampshire schools have been working on the Climate Unity project this year. It follows on from a successful Climate Forest Installation in 2021.

Hampshire Services have continued to work with schools and local community groups to promote awareness of and stimulate dialogue about the climate crisis facing us all. We have decided to use the medium of an art Installation, as this has proved an effective way of engaging public interest and the use of QR codes embedded into the installation ensures that a wide range of voices are heard.

The Artworks comprise of circular works using recycled materials to be symbolic of the planet and ideas about eternity and inclusion.
There are sixty-two Hampshire schools contributing to the project. Artwork features here and at various venues in parks, libraries, galleries, discovery centres and activities centres around Hampshire. These installations also include some community groups whose artwork features alongside schools’ artwork. The various art pieces are displayed in a variety of locations across Hampshire this summer (July-October).
Participating venues include Southampton City Art Gallery, Basingstoke Discovery Centre, Calshot Activities Centre, Farnborough Library, Hiltingbury Lakes, Queen Elizabeth Country Park, River Hamble Country Park, Royal Victoria Country Park, Sir Harold Hillier Gardens, Staunton Country Park, The Willis Museum and the Yellow edge gallery.
