In 2022 Melanie Georgiou was awarded first place in Southampton City Art Gallery’s Open Exhibition with her painting Zen Black, which was on display in the Main Hall of the Gallery.

Taking her winning entry as a starting point, Melanie has created a new series which brings together portraits of 24 inspiring people from Southampton and the local area.

The selection is testament to the city’s vibrant and diverse cultures, celebrating just some of the individuals that have inspired Melanie on her artistic journey.
