Emigrant – Departure

On the leaving the shore, the emigrants from the islands took with them their possessions and their culture. The three boats represent different aspects of the people’s lives and culture, including religion, fishing and farming. The ship, waiting to take the emigrants overseas can be seen on the horizon. This piece was created as part of a celebration of migration and the diaspora of peoples around the world.
